A Eucharist Liturgy
for Urban Monastics
Welcome
And may my life proclaim Your death until You return.
Prayer of Communal Confession
You hold all of creation in Your hands.
Without You we would fall apart.
Lord as You sustain us, help us.
Give us courage to live as You did.
Help us see the poor as ourselves,
grant us meek hearts and gentle spirits,
and let us love widely so those weeping invite us in.
Help us turn from ourselves,
to choose love over our safety and comfort,
share Your eyes with us,
to see Your love for all including ourselves,
and keep us from hurting others with our wants.
Forgive us Lord.
We have sinned against You
in thought, word and deed.
In what we have done
and in what we have left undone.
Amen
Alleluia
Silence for Examination
Assist us in examining ourselves.
Words of Invitation
To sit with Him,
with those who came before,
and who are yet to come.
To share the eternal meal,
that Jesus began on the night He was betrayed.
Words of Institution
While they were eating, Jesus took some bread. After blessing it, He broke it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, "Take, eat. This is My body."
Then He took a cup, and when He had given thanks, He gave it to them, saying, "Drink from it, all of you. Drink, for this is My blood of the covenant, which is being poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. I tell you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine again, until that day when I drink it with you, afresh, in My Father's kingdom."
Then He said to them, "I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer. Eat, for I say to you that I shall not eat it again until it is fulfilled in the Kingdom of God."
And when He had taken a cup and given thanks, He said, "Take this cup, and share it among yourselves. Drink, for I say to you that I will no longer drink of the fruit of the vine until the Kingdom of God has come."
And when He had taken some bread and given thanks, He broke it. Then He gave it to them, saying, "This is My body, which is being given for you; do this in remembrance of Me."
And in the same way, after they had eaten, He took the cup, saying, "This cup, which is poured out for you, is the new covenant in My blood."
