An Invitation to Praise God

Psalm 95
·
UMB-EN
Antiphon
Ant.

Christ the Lord was tempted and suffered for us. Come, let us worship Him.

Come, let us sing praise to the LORD. *
Shout with joy to the Rock of our salvation.
Let us enter His presence with a song of thanksgiving, *
    singing joyful songs to Him.
[ANT]
For the LORD is a great God, *
and the great King above all gods.
In His hand are the depths of the earth, *
and the mountain peaks are His as well.
The sea is His for He made it, *
His hands formed the dry land.
[ANT]
Come, let us bow down and worship. *
Let us kneel before the LORD our maker,
for He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture, *
and the flock of His hand.
[ANT]
Today, will you hear His voice?
"Do not harden your hearts, *
as at Meribah and during the temptation in the wilderness,
where your ancestors tested and provoked Me, *
although they were witness to My work."
[ANT]
"Forty years that generation disgusted Me",
and I said, "They are a people whose hearts go astray, *
and they do not know My ways."
So I swore in My anger, *
"Never shall they enter into My rest."
[ANT]
Gloria

Glory to the Father, to the Son,
    and to the Holy Spirit,
As it was in the beginning, is now,
    and will be forever.
Amen

Introduction

God, come to my assistance; *
Lord, make haste to help me.

The LORD says * to my master: "Sit at My right hand"

The LORD says to my master, *
    "Sit at my right hand,
and I will make your enemies *
into a footstool for your feet."
From Zion, the LORD will extend your mighty scepter's reach, saying, *
"Rule in the midst of your enemies."
On the day of your power, your people will follow you,
    in your holy splendor, *
"With the breaking of dawn, your youth comes to you like the dew."
The LORD swore an irrevocable oath, *
"You are a priest always, in the order of King Melchizedek."
On your right is my master, *
who will crush rulers on the day of his wrath.
He will drink from the brook along his way; *
therefore he will lift up his head.
Gloria

Glory to the Father, to the Son,
    and to the Holy Spirit,
As it was in the beginning, is now,
    and will be forever.
Amen

Praise the True God

Psalm 115
·
UMB-EN
Antiphon
Ant.

Us, who are alive, * bless the Lord.

Not to us, Lord, not to us,
but to Your name give the glory, *
because of Your mercy, and Your truth.
Why do the nations say, *
    "Where is their God?"
But our God is in heaven, *
and He does whatever He wants.
Their idols are of silver and gold, *
    the work of human hands.
They have mouths yet cannot speak, *
    eyes yet cannot see,
ears yet cannot hear, *
    noses yet cannot smell.
They have hands yet cannot touch,
    feet yet cannot walk, *
and only silence comes from their throats.
The artisans who create idols will become like them, *
along with all whose faith is in them.
People of Israel, trust in the Lord; *
He is their help and shield.
House of Aaron, trust in the Lord; *
He is their help and shield.
All who fear Him, trust in the Lord; *
He is their help and shield.
The Lord remembers us *
    and will bless us;
He will bless the People of Israel, *
He will bless the House of Aaron.
He will bless those who fear the Lord, *
    the small with the great.
May the Lord increase your blessings, *
to you and all your children.
May you be blessed by the Lord, *
    maker of heaven and earth.
The heavens are the heavens of the Lord, *
but the earth He has given all children.
The dead do not praise the Lord, *
nor do any who descend into silence.
But us, we will bless the Lord, *
    in this moment and forever.
Gloria

Glory to the Father, to the Son,
    and to the Holy Spirit,
As it was in the beginning, is now,
    and will be forever.
Amen

The Voluntary Sacrifice of Christ - Servant of God

Antiphon

Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia.

To this you were called, *
    because Christ suffered for you,
leaving us an example to follow, *
that we should walk in His steps.
He who never sinned, *
nor tasted deceit in His mouth.
When they slandered Him, *
He spoke not a vile word.
When He suffered, *
    He made no threats.
He gave Himself into the hands *
    of the one who judges.
He took our sins upon Himself, *
in His body upon the cross.
So that we might die to sin, *
    and live in righteousness.
It is by His wounds, *
    that we have been healed.
Gloria

Glory to the Father, to the Son,
    and to the Holy Spirit,
As it was in the beginning, is now,
    and will be forever.

Reading

Acts of the Apostles 13:26-30

Dear siblings, fellow children of Abraham and those among you who fear God, this message of salvation has been sent to us. For the people of Jerusalem and their rulers did not recognize Jesus. Neither did they understand the utterances of the prophets being read every sabbath. In their condemning of Him, their words were fulfilled. Though they found no grounds for putting Him to death, they asked Pilate to have Him executed. They had carried out all that was written about Him. And after, they took Him down from the cross and laid Him in a tomb. But God raised Him from the dead!

Brief Response

Great is our Lord, and great is His power.
Great is our Lord, * and great is His power.
His wisdom is endless.
and great is His power.
Glory to the Father, to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
Great is our Lord, * and great is His power.

My Soul Magnifies

BLANK

My soul magnifies the greatness of the Lord; *
my spirit bursts, rejoicing in God my Savior.
For He knew the humility of His servant. *
From today all generations will call me blessed.
The Almighty has done great things for me, *
    and holy is His name.
He has mercy for those who fear Him, *
    from generation to generation.
He has shown the strength of His arm, *
and scattered the proud for the thoughts of their hearts.
He has torn the mighty from their thrones, *
    and lifted up the lowly.
He has filled the hungry with good things, *
and sent the rich away empty.
He has given help to His servant Israel, *
and remembered His promise of mercy.
The promise made to our ancestors, *
to Abraham and His children forever.
Gloria

Glory to the Father, to the Son,
    and to the Holy Spirit,
As it was in the beginning, is now,
    and will be forever.

Intercessory Prayers of Petition

Praise and glory to Christ. Through Him all are able to come into the presence of God, who lives forever, and intercedes for us. Trusting in this through faith we ask:
    Remember Your people, Lord.
As our day draws to a close, we call to You, Sun of justice, for all people,
    – may all enjoy Your eternal light without end.
    Remember Your people, Lord.
Keep the covenant that You have consecrated by Your divine blood,
    – and sanctify Your Church, that she might exist without blemish.
    Remember Your people, Lord.
Remember, Lord, Your congregations,
    – as a place where You dwell.
    Remember Your people, Lord.
Guide us upon the narrow path. The way of happiness and peace,
    – that takes us to our desired goal of joy and salvation.
    Remember Your people, Lord.
Welcome, Lord, the souls of the deceased,
    – grant them Your forgiveness and everlasting glory.
    Remember Your people, Lord.

Lord's Prayer

Our Father, who is in heaven,
    hallowed be Your Name.
Your kingdom come,
    Your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins,
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation,
    but deliver us from evil;
for the kingdom, the power,
and the glory are Yours without end.
Amen

Collect

Let us pray.

Almighty and everlasting God, through our Savior, You revealed to us all the humility we must imitate. With a body like mine, Jesus endured death on the cross for us all. Grant us the tenderness * of His presence as we wait to share in His resurrection with Him who lives and reigns in unity with You and the Holy Spirit. God, now and forever. Amen.

Blessing

May the Lord bless us,
    keep us from all evil,
and bring us to everlasting life.
Amen
