An Invitation to Praise God

Psalm 95
·
UMB-EN
Antiphon
Ant.

Christ the Lord was tempted and suffered for us. Come, let us worship Him.

Come, let us sing praise to the LORD. *
Shout with joy to the Rock of our salvation.
Let us enter His presence with a song of thanksgiving, *
    singing joyful songs to Him.
[ANT]
For the LORD is a great God, *
and the great King above all gods.
In His hand are the depths of the earth, *
and the mountain peaks are His as well.
The sea is His for He made it, *
His hands formed the dry land.
[ANT]
Come, let us bow down and worship. *
Let us kneel before the LORD our maker,
for He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture, *
and the flock of His hand.
[ANT]
Today, will you hear His voice?
"Do not harden your hearts, *
as at Meribah and during the temptation in the wilderness,
where your ancestors tested and provoked Me, *
although they were witness to My work."
[ANT]
"Forty years that generation disgusted Me",
and I said, "They are a people whose hearts go astray, *
and they do not know My ways."
So I swore in My anger, *
"Never shall they enter into My rest."
[ANT]
Gloria

Glory to the Father, to the Son,
    and to the Holy Spirit,
As it was in the beginning, is now,
    and will be forever.
Amen

The LORD says * to my master: "Sit at My right hand"

The LORD says to my master, *
    "Sit at my right hand,
and I will make your enemies *
into a footstool for your feet."
From Zion, the LORD will extend your mighty scepter's reach, saying, *
"Rule in the midst of your enemies."
On the day of your power, your people will follow you,
    in your holy splendor, *
"With the breaking of dawn, your youth comes to you like the dew."
The LORD swore an irrevocable oath, *
"You are a priest always, in the order of King Melchizedek."
On your right is my master, *
who will crush rulers on the day of his wrath.
He will drink from the brook along his way; *
therefore he will lift up his head.
Gloria

Glory to the Father, to the Son,
    and to the Holy Spirit,
As it was in the beginning, is now,
    and will be forever.

Blessed are the Righteous

Psalm 112
·
UMB-EN
Antiphon

Blessed is the one who greatly delights * in His commandments.

Blessed is the one who fears the LORD, *
who greatly delights in His commandments.
Their descendants will be mighty on the earth, *
the generation of the upright will be blessed.
In their houses are abundant riches, *
    and their righteousness endures forever.
In the darkness a light shines for the upright, *
He is gracious, compassionate, and righteous.
A good person is gracious and lends,
they conduct their affairs justly, *
and they will never be shaken.
The righteous will be remembered forever, *
they will not fear evil news.
Their hearts are steadfast, trusting in the LORD,
their hearts are strong, they won't be afraid, *
they will look with triumph over their foes.
He has distributed freely, and given to the poor;
    His justice endures forever, *
His horn will be exalted with honor.
The wicked will see and be furious,
they will gnash their teeth and melt away. *
The desire of the wicked leads to destruction.
Gloria

Glory to the Father, to the Son,
    and to the Holy Spirit,
As it was in the beginning, is now,
    and will be forever.

Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia.

Salvation and glory and power belong to our God, *
for His judgments are true and just.
Praise our God, all you servants of the Lord, *
you who fear him, both small and great.
For the Lord our God, the Almighty, reigns. *
Let us rejoice and exult and give glory to Him.
For the marriage of the Lamb has come, *
and His bride has made herself ready.
Blessed are those who are invited *
to the wedding banquet of the Lamb.

Reading

An Epistle to the Hebrews 12:22-24

But you have come to Mount Zion, and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to the innumerable angels. To the gathered church of the firstborn whose names are written and awaited in the heavens. You have come to God, the Judge of all, and to the spirits of the righteous having become perfect. You have come to Jesus the mediator of a new covenant. Also to his shed blood whose call surpasses that of Abel.

Great is our Lord, and great is His power.
Great is our Lord, * and great is His power.
And his wisdom is beyond all comprehension.
and great is His power.

My Soul Magnifies

BLANK

My soul magnifies the greatness of the Lord; *
my spirit bursts, rejoicing in God my Savior.
For He knew the humility of His servant. *
From today all generations will call me blessed.
The Almighty has done great things for me, *
    and holy is His name.
He has mercy for those who fear Him, *
    from generation to generation.
He has shown the strength of His arm, *
and scattered the proud for the thoughts of their hearts.
He has torn the mighty from their thrones, *
    and lifted up the lowly.
He has filled the hungry with good things, *
and sent the rich away empty.
He has given help to His servant Israel, *
and remembered His promise of mercy.
The promise made to our ancestors, *
to Abraham and His children forever.
Gloria

Glory to the Father, to the Son,
    and to the Holy Spirit,
As it was in the beginning, is now,
    and will be forever.

Intercessory Prayers of Petition

Let us give unending thanks to Christ, our head and teacher. He came as a servant to do good among and for us all. Therefore, with humble confidence, we ask Him:
    Lord, visit your family.
Be present, Lord, with the leaders of your Church, who share with you the work as head, teacher, and shepherd,
    – that, through You, they may lead us all to the Father.
    Lord, visit your family.
May Your Spirit and angels accompany them on their journey
    – and preserve them from what ensnares our bodies and souls.
    Lord, visit your family.
Teach us, by Your example, to serve one another,
    – just as You came to serve and not to be served.
    Lord, visit your family.
Knit us more tightly together as one expansive family where each is helped by another,
    – that with Your presence, we will be like a strong city.
    Lord, visit your family.
Be merciful to all those who have died,
    – receiving them into the light of Your presence.
    Lord, visit your family.

Lord's Prayer

Our Father, who is in heaven,
    hallowed be Your Name.
Your kingdom come,
    Your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins,
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation,
    but deliver us from evil;
for the kingdom, the power,
and the glory are Yours without end.
Amen

Collect

Let us pray.

God, who wonderfully works reconciliation of all people through Your Son. We plead to You, increase the faith of Christian people everywhere. * May we prepare for the approaching Easter celebrations with ardent faith, sincere devotion, and love together with Him who lives and reigns in unity with You and the Holy Spirit. God, now and forever. Amen.

Blessing

May the Lord bless us,
    keep us from all evil,
and bring us to everlasting life.
Amen
