Us, who are alive, * bless the Lord.

Why do the nations say, *

"Where is their God?"

But our God is in heaven, *

and He does whatever He wants.

Their idols are of silver and gold, *

the work of human hands.

They have mouths yet cannot speak, *

eyes yet cannot see,

ears yet cannot hear, *

noses yet cannot smell.

They have hands yet cannot touch, †

feet yet cannot walk, *

and only silence comes from their throats.

The artisans who create idols will become like them, *

along with all whose faith is in them.

People of Israel, trust in the Lord; *

He is their help and shield.

Second Epistle to the Church in Thessaloniki 2:13-14

But always we give thanks to God for you, our siblings, who are deeply beloved by the Lord. That God chose you to be among the first to be saved through the sanctifying work of the Spirit, and your belief in the truth. He called you to this through our gospel, so that you might share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Intercessory Prayers of Petition

Praise and glory to Christ. Through Him all are able to come into the presence of God, who lives forever, and intercedes for us. Trusting in this through faith we ask:

Remember Your people, Lord.

As our day draws to a close, we call to You, Sun of justice, for all people,

– may all enjoy Your eternal light without end.

Remember Your people, Lord.

Keep the covenant that You have consecrated by Your divine blood,

– and sanctify Your Church, that she might exist without blemish.

– as a place where You dwell.
