"Rule in the midst of your enemies."

The LORD swore an irrevocable oath, *

but to Your name give the glory, *

because of Your mercy, and Your truth.

Why do the nations say, *

"Where is their God?"

But our God is in heaven, *

and He does whatever He wants.

Their idols are of silver and gold, *

the work of human hands.

They have mouths yet cannot speak, *

eyes yet cannot see,

ears yet cannot hear, *

noses yet cannot smell.

They have hands yet cannot touch, †

feet yet cannot walk, *

and only silence comes from their throats.

The artisans who create idols will become like them, *

along with all whose faith is in them.

People of Israel, trust in the Lord; *

He is their help and shield.

House of Aaron, trust in the Lord; *

The Lord remembers us *

and will bless us;

Do you not know that in a race, all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run so that you may win. Everyone who competes in the games exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a crown that will perish. We do it for a reward that is imperishable.

and holy is His name.

Intercessory Prayers of Petition

Let us always give thanks to Christ, our leader and teacher. He came to do good and serve us all. Therefore, with humility and confidence, let us ask Him:

Lord, be with Your family.

Be present, Lord, with the leaders of Your Church as they share in Your mission. Help them shepherd and lead,

– together with You, all people to the Father.

Lord, be with Your family.

Send Your angels to accompany us on our journeys,

– to help us avoid what might ensnare our bodies and souls.

Lord, be with Your family.

Teach us, by Your example, to serve one another,

– for You came to serve, not to be served.

Lord, You told us to listen to Your beloved Son. † Let our faith find life giving nourishment with Your word. * Then our spiritually purifying sight will better see and celebrate Your glory through Jesus Christ who lives and reigns in unity with You and the Holy Spirit. God, now and forever. Amen.
